EEO Employer-Disability/Veteran Statements

Federal law requires that Emory University state its commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action (applicable to individuals with disabilities and protected veterans) in all employment recruiting announcements and advertisements. This requirement applies at all department, division, and university-wide levels.

Emory's EEO Employer-Disability/Veteran Statements must appear on all print and digital university publications used in recruiting applicants for employment. The statement should be positioned in a prominent location—usually in the main footer of a website, near the front or back cover of a document or immediately before or after an ad. For publications that invite participation or attendance at an event, additional information regarding disability accommodations also must be included.

Here are some examples of publications that must contain the statement:

  • Primary University, School and Unit Websites
  • Job Applications
  • Employee and/or Student Handbooks
  • Job Postings
  • Company Bulletin Boards

Other Emory communications may contain the statement to ensure broader awareness of the university’s commitments, even if the publications are not focused on employee recruitment. While not mandatory, the EEO Employer-Disability/Veteran Statements are often included on:

  • Brochures
  • Magazines
  • Newsletters
  • Posters
  • Stationery
  • Training Materials
