Chelsee Wernece

Chelsee Wernecke is a Senior Recruiter for the Department of Equity and Civil Rights Compliance overseeing the centralization process for faculty recruitment and hiring. Chelsee’s ongoing efforts in standardizing this process include managing faculty requisitions while also collaborating with the Provost’s Office, division leaders, and Division of HR to ensure effective and compliant faculty hiring practices.

Chelsee joins the department from Emory University’s Central HR office, wherein she sourced job candidates, managed requisitions, evaluated internal equity, and supervised pre-employment processes from 2018 to 2024. Chelsee’s experience in human resources prior to Emory University includes roles in private, public, and academic organizations. Chelsee has also taught at the college level, instructing Texas State University’s award-winning foundational course: the Fundamentals of Human Communication.

In addition to being a Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), Chelsee holds a B.S. in Corporate Communication Studies from the University of Texas and an M.A. in Communication Studies from Texas State University.
