Maurice Middleton
As the Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Compliance at Emory University, Maurice provides leadership for issues related to equity and inclusion, EO/AA Compliance, EEO Investigations, and Title IX education for faculty and staff at Emory University. He monitors the university-wide compliance on these issues and recommends corrective measures to ensure compliance.
Maurice is responsible for overseeing the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action policies related to Harassment and Discrimination at Emory University. He is also responsible for the oversight of Emory’s legal obligation to federal statutes and regulations for the purpose of equitable and fair treatment at Emory University. He develops educational programs to address issues of equity and compliance. He crafts policies and procedures for matters involving affirmative action, grievances, and discrimination, Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act, Civil Rights, and social justice issues. He also addresses the discrimination and harassment complaints of Emory’s faculty, staff, students, third parties; and creates strategies to address these concerns.
Maurice has over 15 years of Human Resources, Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), Diversity, and Leadership Development experience in both the higher education and healthcare industries. He is certified through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) and the Association of Title IX Administrators (“ATIXA”) as an EEO and Civil Rights Investigator. He provides leadership for issues related to equity and inclusion, EO/AA Investigations and Affirmative Action Guidelines.
Maurice collaborates with Emory’s Office of General Counsel and other University leadership on all issues related to equity and inclusion. He earned his B.A. in Behavioral Science from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL and his Juris Master from Emory University’s School of Law in Atlanta, GA.
